The Caldwell Firefighters IAFF Local #1821 is proud to announce that they endorse Helmut Martinez Kohler for Mayor of Caldwell. Additionally the Firefighters firmly support Vincent Sanchez, Marlene Boucher, and Karen Alldredge for City Council.

The Caldwell Firefighters main concern in this election is improvement to firefighter safety and enhancing fire protection and safety services to the Citizens of Caldwell. After inviting all candidates for Mayor and Council to answer questions on their stand for public safety services, the Union was able to make a clear choice on which candidates to support.

The Union makes its endorsement based on fire service, employment and labor issues that directly affect our members and their ability to provide the highest level of service to the community. This Union views candidates through a very narrow focus. Decisions are predicated on how candidates stand on firefighter and labor issues such as collective bargaining rights, pay fairness and equity with area departments, growth of the department by adding stations and more manpower, and our ability to safely respond to all emergencies in an effective manner to name a few. These are the types of issues that the Firefighters will base its decision on when deciding whether or not to support a candidate. While we feel that additional parks and expensive waterways improve the appearance of the community, improvement to safety services is necessary and essential to the wellbeing of each person living in our City, and therefore must be the first priority.

I sure hope you are going to be Caldwell’s saviour! This town has gone stale under Garrett Nancolas’s leadership. I feel 20 years in power in one city it’s time to move on. 12 years as Mayor and 8 on city council.
Mr Koholer you have my vote.
